Statutes and Aims of the Stiftung Pro Artenvielfalt

Our statutory goals are to ensure the survival of endangered and threatened wildlife species in the 21st Century, as far as possible in their traditional habitats.

In accordance with the statutes, we are committed to:

• the protection of natural habitats
• concrete species protection measures
• promoting interest in wildlife protection through exemplary campaigns
• education, information and public relations work

The statutes were approved by the Detmold Borough administration's foundation authority (Lippe/NRW) on 26 November 2008 and updated on 30 November 2018. The foundation authority approved the revised Foundation Statutes on 25 March 2019. The statutory purpose remained unchanged.

The SPA is listed under number 436 in the NRW Foundation Register.

Current Exemption Notice

The Stiftung Pro Artenvielfalt is recognised as serving non-profit purposes by the current exemption notice from the Bielefeld City Centre Tax Office, Tax No. 305/5981/1222, dated 10 July 2025. Donations are tax-deductible.

Foundation bodies

The Board of Trustees is the Foundation's supervisory body. It monitors and controls the work of the Foundation Board. The Chairperson of the Board is fully responsible for the Foundation's operational work and the statutory fulfilment of the Foundation's purpose.

Personnel structure

The SPA team in Germany currently consists of 2 board members and 5 salaried and 3 freelance/part-time employees. The SPA team in Sicily consists of 5 persons (freelance / honorary).

Social bond

SPA/DE has an officially recognised branch office in Siracusa, Sicily/Italy (SPA/IT), which is headed by a responsible branch manager. SPA/IT is dependent and works under the leadership of the board of SPA/DE.

The SPA/CH, based in Basel/Switzerland, is a formal, legally and operationally independent foundation using the same foundation name based on a licence agreement with the SPA/DE. The SPA/CH is registered with the Federal Foundation Supervisory Authority in Bern and was entered in the commercial register of the Canton of Basel-Stadt on 10 October 2011. The company's registered number is: CHE-404.478.621

Persons / Institutions whose annual donations account for more than 10% of the total annual income

In 2022, the Stiftung Pro Artenvielfalt received a grant from the EU for the EU-LIFE18 species protection project NAT/DE/000797 Pantani della Sicilia sud orientale (Sicily/Republic of Italy), which accounted for more than 10% of the total annual income.

Audit 2023

Unqualified certification issued: On 12 June 2025, the independent auditors of ARTAG AG Allgemeine Revision & Treuhand Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, 32427 Minden, issued the Stiftung Pro Artenvielfalt an unqualified certification that the 2023 annual financial statements and bookkeeping, based on their audit, comply with the statutory provisions and the foundation statutes.
